Major John Bridges was born and raised in Enid. After graduating high school, he moved to Yukon where he began working for Yukon EMS and AmCare while working on his Associates Degree from El Reno Junior / Redlands Community College.
In 1984, Bridges began is law enforcement career as a Deputy at the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office assigned to the County Jail. He later went to work at the Yukon Police Department as a patrol officer. While at the Yukon Police Department, he worked in the patrol, traffic, and training divisions and was the city’s EMS Coordinator. Bridges also served as a Tactical Paramedic assigned to the US Marshals Office Fugitive Task Force. He received extensive training at the National Emergency Management Institute and National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
Even after starting his career in law enforcement Bridges continued to work as a Paramedic / Supervisor for the original Mercy EMS an Emergency Room / Intensive Care Paramedic for Integris Canadian Valley Hospital and a State EMS Instructor.
In 2015, Bridges left the Yukon Police Department and returned to the Sheriff’s Office where he currently serves as the Major – Chief of Operations. In this role, he oversees the Patrol, Civil, Courthouse Security, Juvenile Affairs and School Resource Divisions. He is also a Paramedic for the Special Operations Team.
Major Bridges holds an Associate’s in Criminal Justice Degree from Redlands Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business / Leadership from Southern Nazarene University.
He has been married to his wife for 33 years.
